1. Introduction
Basis for the socio- pedagogical activities at Heinrich Metzendorf School is our understanding that school and social work complement each other in the support of students, in the context of becoming an adult and coping with life. This concept is the basis for our pedagogical work.
2. Principles and basic attitude
Students first – this principle from the concept of the HMS gets lived daily in socio- pedagogy. We are listening, we take people and situations seriously, we encourage and look for ways and solutions for their concerns, together with the students. With their environment in view, we are accompanying the teenagers to develop their strengths and competences and to find their individual path of life. Social work at the school understands itself with an own order, which sees itself in the first place obligated to the students – it is about their perspectives.
3. Pedagogical goals
The goals of the socio- pedagogical counselling and aid at HMS orientates itself on the morals and ideas about life, the wishes and the individual chances of the students.
4. Tasks and offers
The socio- pedagogues at HMS understand themselves as an aid and contact persons for students, their parents and other care givers as well as for teachers. The results out of this are numerous different tasks and offers which result out of the needs of the individual, the needs of groups and classes, but also out of the conditions and developments of the school as a whole.
